1. Morning Pick-Up: Start Early
Your day starts with a morning pick-up from a designated location in Nairobi. Head out early towards Nairobi National Park, taking advantage of the cooler morning temperatures and peak wildlife activity.
2. Nairobi National Park: Morning Game Drive
Just a short drive from the city centre, Nairobi National Park offers a remarkably wild experience on Nairobi’s doorstep. Set out on a game drive across the park’s open grasslands, keeping an eye out for lions, black and white rhinos, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and other wildlife.
The contrast is part of what makes the experience special – you can be watching a herd of giraffes or a rhino with Nairobi’s skyline visible in the distance.
3. Sheldrick Wildlife Trust: Elephant Orphan Visit
After the game drive, continue to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, one of Kenya’s best-known elephant rescue and rehabilitation projects.
During the visit, you’ll meet orphaned elephants as they are fed and cared for by their keepers. You’ll also hear the individual stories behind some of the elephants and learn more about the Trust’s efforts to rehabilitate them for a return to the wild.
4. Giraffe Centre: Meet the Giraffes
Continue to the Giraffe Centre, home to the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe. Get an up-close look at these gentle giants and learn about the conservation programme that has helped protect and reintroduce them into the wild. You’ll have the opportunity to feed the giraffes from the raised viewing platform and, if you’re lucky, enjoy a particularly close encounter as they come over to say hello.
5. Return to Your Hotel
After your visit, settle back into the vehicle for a relaxed transfer to your hotel or preferred drop-off point, bringing your Nairobi wildlife day to a close.
